Difference Between A Rapid Tan And A Traditional Tan
Rapid tans work by decreasing the contact time DHA requires for it to activate and begin to darken your skin into a tan. This is done through a closely guarded acceleration process, where the solution ingredients are specifically formulated to create this faster release. Rapid tans provide the same lasting tan as expected from a traditional tan, but with the added convenience of being able to be rinsed off hours earlier. Rather than having to wait 8, 12, or more hours, clients are instead able to rinse off in as little as 1-3 hours! Unlike traditional tans, they can also wash rapid tans have time requirements that dictate how long a client must wait before rinsing the solution off. Because your skin still requires the full 8-12 hours to fully darken from the reaction, rinsing off will give the appearance of rinsing away the tan as the bronzers (the temporary color) go down the drain, but don’t worry, the color will be back! How to Care for your New Tan
It is extremely important that you follow these instructions to obtain optimal results for your tan.
Pre-Tan Care
1. Prior to your appointment lightly exfoliate daily leading up to your appointment. Follow exfoliation with use of a moisturizer twice daily.
2. Shaving must be done more than 24 hours prior to your appointment.
3. Waxing must be done 3 days or more prior to your appointment.
4. Manicures/Pedicures should be done at least 8 hours prior to your appointment. Please ensure all lotions or oils are rinsed off prior to your tan.
Day of Session
1. Remove any make up, deodorant, and lotions prior to your technician’s arrival.
Post Tan (3 hours later)
1. After your tan be sure to wear loose-fitting clothing. Dark colored clothing is preferred as well.
2. Be sure to moisturize regularly after your tan. This will ensure a long lasting glo.
3. Because the DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) takes a full 24 hours to process do not use any soap, shampoo, or cleansing product for the first 24 hours. This is extremely important. If this is not followed your tan may not turn out as intended.
4. After your tan you must rinse off with warm water ONLY 1 to 3 hours after your tan. Use hands to rinse off the bronzer so that you do not over exfoliate . After rinsing pat dry .
5. Finally, do not use any lotions for the first 24 hours post tan. Also make sure to use a water based moisturizer (not an oil based moisturizer)
Most commonly asked questions!
Question: If my spray tan solution is green, will it develop into a green tan?
Answer: No it will not. The only thing turning green in the solution is the bronzers, which are just the temporary color. The lasting DHA tan underneath should still develop into the same tan that you know and love.
Question: Why does my tan look green after being sprayed ?

Answer : A spray tan solution contains bronzers. Bronzers are usually made up of three primary colors (remember art class in school? Hope you paid attention!). These colors are: Red, Yellow, and Blue. When the red colorant oxidizes, it leaves blue and yellow alone together, which creates green.
Green based: Green is opposite to pink / red on a color wheel which means it has a neutralizing effect on the pinky red tones of the skin. The greenish hue will NOT last and will rinse off and leave you with a beautiful golden glow !
Question: Will my client’s rapid tan really last as long as a traditional tan?

Answer: Yes. A rapid tan will just just as long as any traditional tan, providing your client follows your guidelines!
Question: My client washed off and her tan disappeared, what happened?
Answer: What most likely happened is that she has simply washed off the bronzer. Remember: DHA will still require the full 8-12 hours to develop into the lasting tan. A rapid tan means that she can wash the tan off because the development process was activated more rapidly; it does not mean that they will tan more rapidly.
